Suren Gortsunyan is a founding and managing partner of RGP and heads our Corporate practice. Suren specialises in advising both domestic and international companies on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, joint ventures, private equity transactions, international arbitration of corporate disputes and corporate restructurings. In 2019 Suren was included in the ICC Russia’s roster of arbitrators. His clients include companies in the real estate, retail and consumer, telecommunications, oil services, industrial and financial services sectors including fintech and blockchain.

Background

Prior to founding RGP, Suren was a partner with Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld and, prior to that, a partner at Hogan Lovells and Lovells, a senior associate at White & Case and an associate at Herbert Smith CIS. He has extensive experience participating in legislative initiatives for the Russian Federation in the area of corporate and securities laws and has acted as an adviser to the Federal Commission on the Securities Market of the Russian Federation (currently the Bank of Russia). Suren was also a co-author of the commentary to the Russian Federal Law ‘On Insolvency (Bankruptcy)’ STATUT, 1998.
