GAR Interactive Moscow conference sponsored by RGP sees record attendance

RGP acted as a gold sponsor of GAR Interactive Moscow conference held online on 8th and 9th October 2020. The event received wide coverage and attracted a record number of participants – more than 200 attendees from various jurisdictions worldwide.

Dmitry Dyakin, a partner and Head of Arbitration at RGP, took active part in developing the conference programme as its co-chair. Dmitry opened GAR Interactive Moscow with a welcome speech addressing guests and speakers, and moderated two key panels of the conference: “The commoditisation of investment claims” and “Asian opportunities and disputes”. Yuri Makhonin, a counsel at RGP, spoke on the panel “Arbitration on the doorstep of the 2020s”, focusing on the pressing issue of cybersecurity and the impact of technological innovations on arbitration proceedings. The business programme of the first day of the conference was opened with a keynote speech by Lord Peter Goldsmith QC, London Co-Managing Partner and Chair of European and Asian Litigation at Debevoise & Plimpton, who previously served as the UK’s Attorney General.  The business programme of the second day was opened with an address by Mikhail Galperin, Professor at the National Research University Higher School of Economics and one of the authors of the Russian arbitration reform.

“GAR conferences traditionally become landmark events in the world of modern arbitration. A year ago, I had the privilege of taking an active part in organising the first Moscow GAR Live conference. This year, despite moving online, our event has once again attracted great interest from the international legal community and has broken the last year’s record by the number of participants and sponsors. My colleagues and I have received lots of positive feedback after the conference, and we are grateful to the GAR team and to the brilliant speakers for making the event such a huge success,” commented Dmitry Dyakin.
